Can CBD Oil Help You Reduce Pain?

Updated: Apr 11, 2020

Check out ReferLocal's piece on how CBD oil can help alleviate pain- including how it helps our Executive Director, jme, in her daily life- and relieved her pup, Zelda, when she had been severely burned.

Here is an excerpt:

"CBD can affect the body’s endocannabinoid system. According to Wikipedia, the endocannabinoid system is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids, which are endogenous lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors, and cannabinoid receptor proteins that are expressed throughout the vertebrate central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. Along with influencing other functions related to our neurological system, such as mood and memory, the endocannabinoid system affects how we experience pain.

We spoke with Jamie Thomas who runs the Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. She told us how she herself uses CBD to calm anxiety, aid in sleep, and reduce pain. However she finds it most useful for the animals in her rescue and more specifically she initially started to use it when her own dog suffered serious burns on 50% of her body. "During the time she was struggling, she was on so many pain killers- but what relieved her pain and helped her sleep was CBD, not the narcotics. I was amazed at how she would stop shaking, whining and actually rest after she was given some."

jme has become so passionate about CBD that she started working with growers to produce a new, more effective (cost wise and applicably) formula that has already helped many pets- both cats and dogs- cope with pain and anxiety. This tincture has turned around the lives of both pets and their people so they can get back to enjoying themselves more.

Her line, Zoorenity, can be purchased on her personal blog, www.zoocrewpointofview.com where life is viewed from the perspective of two of her pups, Litle Mouse and Meatball.

Also available are CBD capsules for humans in her Soulrenity line- also sold in the Zoo Crew Store.
